Allegro ACS772 Hall-Effect-Based Current Sensor IC
The Allegro ACS772 family of current sensor ICs offers economical and precise solutions for AC or DC current sensing. Ideal for motor control, load detection and management, power supply and DC-to-DC converter control, and inverter control, these devices provide a linear analog output voltage (VOUT) that varies with the primary sensed current (IP). With a fast 2.5 s response time, the ACS772 enables overcurrent fault detection in safety-critical applications. Its design features a precision, low-offset linear Hall circuit integrated with a low-resistance (100 typical) copper conduction path. This configuration generates a magnetic field proportional to the current, which is then converted into a voltage output by the Hall IC. The device boasts excellent accuracy and temperature stability due to proprietary digital temperature compensation and integrated shield technology, which also provides high-level immunity to dV/dt and stray electric fields. Reinforced galvanic isolation is a key feature, allowing for economical high-side current sensing in high-voltage systems without the need for opto-isolators or other costly isolation techniques. The ACS772 is factory-trimmed for accuracy and is lead (Pb) free.
