Product Overview
The Allegro ACS723 current sensor IC is an economical and precise solution for AC or DC current sensing in industrial, commercial, and communications systems. Its small, low-profile SOIC8 package is ideal for space-constrained applications, reducing board area and costs. The device features a precise, low-offset, linear Hall sensor circuit with a low-resistance copper conduction path (0.65 m typical) that generates a magnetic field proportional to the applied current. This field is converted into a proportional voltage by the integrated Hall IC. The ACS723 offers patented digital temperature compensation for high accuracy over temperature, industry-leading noise performance with improved bandwidth, and pin-selectable bandwidth (80 kHz or 20 kHz). It provides galvanically isolated current sensing, enabling high-side current measurements without costly isolation techniques. Typical applications include motor control, load detection and management, switched-mode power supplies, and overcurrent fault protection.
