Product Overview
The HEDM-55xx/56xx and HEDS-55xx/56xx series are high-performance, low-cost, two and three-channel optical incremental encoders designed for easy assembly and high reliability. These encoders offer high resolution and feature a lensed LED source, an integrated circuit with detectors and output circuitry, and a codewheel. They provide two square waves in quadrature, with an optional third channel index output for three-channel models. The HEDS series utilizes metal codewheels, while the HEDM series uses a film codewheel, enabling resolutions up to 1024 Counts Per Revolution (CPR). Ideal for high-volume applications such as printers, plotters, tape drives, and positioning tables, these encoders offer quick and easy mounting to motors, with some models featuring external mounting ears for larger motor diameters. They operate on a single 5V supply and are TTL compatible.
