Product Description
The VEML6030 is a high-accuracy, 16-bit resolution ambient light sensor in a miniature 2 mm x 2 mm package. It features a highly sensitive photodiode, a low-noise amplifier, and a 16-bit A/D converter. The sensor supports an easy-to-use I2C bus communication interface and an interrupt feature, providing ambient light results as a digital value. Its FiltronTM technology ensures a response close to the human eye, and O-TrimTM technology offers ALS output tolerance of 10%. With a 16-bit dynamic range, it can detect ambient light from 0 lx to approximately 120 klx with a resolution down to 0.0036 lx/ct, supporting dark lens designs. It also includes 100 Hz and 120 Hz flicker noise rejection and excellent temperature compensation. Applications include backlight dimming in mobile devices (smartphones, PDAs, GPS), industrial on/off lighting control, and optical switching for consumer, computing, and industrial devices and displays.
