Product Description
S44800 stainless steel is a high nitrogen content austenitic stainless steel, also known as UNS S44800 or AISI 654SMO stainless steel. UNS S44800 Stainless Steel Plate has excellent corrosion resistance and strength, suitable for manufacturing high-demand chemical, marine and oil and gas fields parts and equipment, such as pipes, valves, storage tanks, heat exchangers, etc.
Chemical Composition
The chemical composition of UNS S44800 Stainless Steel Plate is the key factor that determines its performance:
- Carbon (C): about 0.75%
- Chromium (Cr): about 16.0% to 18.0%
- Manganese (Mn): not more than 1.0%
- Phosphorus (P): not more than 0.04%
- Sulfur (S): not more than 0.03%
- Silicon (Si): not more than 1.0%
- Nickel (Ni): may contain trace amounts, but usually not more than 1%
- Molybdenum (Mo): may contain trace amounts, but usually not more than 1%
Mechanical Properties
- Tensile strength: ≥620 MPa
- Yield strength: ≥440 MPa
- Elongation: >12%
- Sectional reduction: >40%
- Hardness: HRC 52-58
Heat Treatment Characteristics
S44800 can be improved by heat treatment. Common heat treatment processes include:
- Quenching: Rapid heating in the temperature range of 1010-1070°C, followed by rapid cooling to form a martensitic structure.
- Tempering: Tempering in the temperature range of 150-680°C to reduce internal stress after quenching, improve toughness and adjust hardness.
Processing Performance
S44800 has good processing performance and can be processed by conventional metal processing methods such as milling, turning, drilling, etc. Due to its high hardness, carbide tools may be required during processing.
