S44700 is a high-purity ferritic stainless steel. Due to the high chromium and molybdenum content, and the carbon and nitrogen content being reduced to very low levels, the corrosion resistance of UNS S44700 stainless steel plate is significantly improved, particularly in stress corrosion and pitting resistance. It features soft magnetic properties while maintaining improved toughness and lower brittle transition temperature. The corrosion resistance is equivalent to pure nickel, and it offers excellent toughness, processing formability, and weldability.
- Iron (Fe): Balance
- Chromium (Cr): 25.0%-28.0% - Forms dense chromium oxide protective film for corrosion resistance
- Nickel (Ni): Maximum 1.50%
- Molybdenum (Mo): 3.5-4.2% - Enhances chloride ion corrosion resistance
- Manganese (Mn): Maximum 1.00%
- Silicon (Si): Maximum 1.00%
- Phosphorus (P): Maximum 0.040%
- Sulfur (S): Maximum 0.030%
- Carbon (C): Maximum 0.15% - Improves welding performance and intergranular corrosion resistance
Additionally contains trace amounts of aluminum (Al) and titanium (Ti) to further enhance corrosion resistance and heat resistance properties.
