The valve cover gasket is a critical sealing component between the valve cover and the cylinder head. Installed at the junction between the valve cover and cylinder head, it seals the engine oil within the valve chamber, preventing oil from leaking to the exterior or into the spark plug holes. The gasket is typically made of oil-resistant, high-temperature rubber/silicone material, offering excellent sealing performance and aging resistance.
The BYD Qin PLUS DM-i is equipped with the BYD472QC 1.5L Xiaoyun engine, featuring Atkinson cycle with a maximum thermal efficiency of 43%, compression ratio of 15.5:1, maximum horsepower of 101Ps, maximum power of 74kW, and maximum torque of 126N·m. As a key component of the engine sealing system, the valve cover gasket's sealing performance directly affects engine oil consumption and operational stability.
In daily use, the valve cover gasket is long exposed to high temperature, high pressure, and oil immersion, making it prone to rubber aging/hardening, loss of elasticity, and cracking – leading to valve cover oil seepage or leakage. Typical failure symptoms include: oil stains on the engine surface, oil in spark plug holes (causing misfire), abnormal oil consumption, and a burning smell from the engine bay. It is one of the most commonly replaced components in engine maintenance.

Strictly developed to original BYD472QC engine OE specifications, with valve cover gasket contour dimensions, mounting hole positions, and sealing rib locations precisely matching the original 1:1. Compatible with all 2021-2025 Qin PLUS DM-i models equipped with the BYD472QC 1.5L Xiaoyun engine, including 55KM/120KM range versions and Zhijia Edition.

The valve cover gasket is manufactured from high-quality oil-resistant rubber (NBR/PVMQ) material, offering the following properties:

The product passes oil resistance testing, high-temperature aging testing, and compression set testing, ensuring reliable sealing throughout the engine's life cycle.
The valve cover gasket features precision vulcanization molding for high dimensional accuracy and good surface finish. The sealing surface features sealing ribs (anti-leak lines) that, under bolt preload, form multiple sealing barriers with the cylinder head to eliminate oil leakage.
Important Note: When replacing the valve cover gasket, recommended to replace the valve cover bolt seals simultaneously (if equipped). During installation, use a torque wrench to tighten bolts in 2-3 steps to the specified torque (typically 8-12 N·m) – over-tightening crushes the gasket, while under-tightening causes poor sealing.

Important Safety Note: Operation should be performed after the engine has cooled to prevent burns. Disconnect the battery negative terminal before operation.
Installation Steps:

Remove Accessories:Remove engine cover, ignition coils, wiring harness clips, and other accessories that obstruct access

Remove Valve Cover:Loosen valve cover bolts in a cross (diagonal) pattern progressively, remove valve cover
-
Clean Sealing Surfaces:Thoroughly clean old gasket residue and oil from the cylinder head sealing surface and valve cover – ensure surfaces are clean and dry

Install New Gasket:Position the new valve cover gasket into the groove, ensuring it is flat and not twisted
-
Install Valve Cover:Align the valve cover with locating pins, gently lower into place – be careful not to displace the gasket

Tighten Bolts:Use a torque wrench in a cross (diagonal) pattern in 2-3 steps, final torque 8-12 N·m
-
Reinstall Accessories:Reinstall ignition coils, wiring harness, engine cover, etc.

Road Test:Start the engine and check for oil leaks around the valve cover
