ASTM A36 is the most commonly used mild steel. It is a low carbon steel product with carbon content less than 0.3%, making it considerably soft for easy forming, machining, and welding. Heat treatment has minimal effect on ASTM A36 steel material. It contains additional elements including manganese, sulfur, phosphorus, and silicon. This steel offers excellent welding properties and is suitable for grinding, punching, tapping, drilling, and machining processes.
