The limestone/lime-gypsum wet flue gas desulfurization process utilizes cost-effective and readily available limestone as the desulfurization absorbent. This proven technology effectively removes sulfur dioxide and other pollutants from industrial flue gases.
Process Overview
- Limestone is crushed, ground into powder, and mixed with water to form an absorption slurry
- When lime is used as the absorbent, lime powder is digested and mixed with water
- In the absorption tower, the slurry contacts and mixes with flue gas
- Sulfur dioxide reacts with calcium carbonate and air, producing gypsum as the final product
- Simultaneously removes other pollutants including dust, HCl, and HF
- Desulfurized flue gas passes through a demister and heat exchanger before discharge
- Gypsum slurry is recovered through dewatering equipment
