Product Overview

The IP69K high temperature resistant breather bolt vent is engineered for the most extreme heat and high-pressure washdown environments. The stainless steel body and specialized ePTFE membrane make it suitable for engine bay electronics, exhaust sensor housings, and food processing equipment that demand zero water ingress under high-temperature jets.

Cause

Automotive engine bays and industrial food processing zones are routinely cleaned with high-pressure steam and hot water. Standard breather vents with lower temperature ratings embrittle, leak, or suffer membrane failure under these conditions. Ingress of water at high pressure can instantly destroy sensitive electronics. The combination of thermal cycling and aggressive cleaning demands a vent that exceeds IP68 specifications.

Solution

The IP69K breather bolt vent utilizes a high-temperature stabilized ePTFE membrane and a 316L stainless steel body. It is tested to withstand close-range high-pressure steam jets at up to 100 bar and 80°C. The vent equalizes pressure due to rapid engine heat-up and cool-down while preventing any water intrusion, even from directed spray nozzles. It maintains performance in the presence of oil, fuel vapors, and alkaline cleaning agents.

How It Works

As the engine compartment temperature soars, internal air pressure rises and is vented through the membrane. Water remains on the surface, and the rapid temperature drop is accommodated without condensation because the membrane continues to breathe. The stainless body radiates heat, protecting the polymer membrane from direct flame exposure.
