Different geological structures are often encountered during drilling operations. To achieve optimal drilling results, it's essential to understand appropriate drilling methods for different geological layers:
Gypsum Layer: Pre-test drilling fluid first. Calcium ions can be removed by adding anti-gypsum treatment agents such as soda ash calcium removal and viscosity reducer. Use viscosity reducer with strong calcium resistance to control viscosity cutting, supplemented with fluid loss reducer and anti-sloughing agent to maintain drilling fluid stability.
Quicksand Formation: Increase drilling fluid viscosity and bentonite content (typically >10%). Add sealing agents to enhance wall-building properties. Reduce displacement to minimize convective sand layer erosion. Close well sections with thick mud (viscosity >80s) before tripping out to ensure smooth equipment operation and electric logging casing.
