Flame-retardant copper-conductor, XLPE-insulated, PVC-sheathed power cable · Construction: CU / XLPE / PVC · Standards: GB/T 12706.1, IEC 60502-1; conductor GB/T 3956; flame retardance GB/T 19666 & GB/T 18380.
1. Product Structure (from conductor to outer sheath)
| Layer | Material | Nominal Thickness | Resulting Diameter |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Conductor | Plain annealed copper (Cu), Class 2 stranded — typical construction 7 wires × 1.70 mm (7/1.70), nominal section 16 mm² | — | ≈ 5.0 mm |
| 2. Insulation | Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) — thermally cross-linked, natural/transparent colour | 0.7 mm | ≈ 6.4 mm |
| 3. Outer sheath | Flame-retardant PVC (ST2 type), black (or as ordered) | 1.4 mm | ≈ 9.3 mm overall |
The cable is a single concentric construction: the stranded copper conductor carries the current; the XLPE insulation provides the dielectric barrier (high insulation resistance, low dielectric loss, 90 °C continuous rating); the flame-retardant PVC sheath gives mechanical, moisture and environmental protection and provides the ZR flame-retardant property.
2. Product Performance
- Electrical — Max. DC conductor resistance at 20 °C ≤ 1.15 Ω/km (GB/T 3956, Class 2); power-frequency withstand test 3.5 kV AC / 5 min, no breakdown; finished-cable insulation resistance at 20 °C typically ≥ 36.7 MΩ·km (manufacturer reference; XLPE volume resistivity ≥ 1×10¹² Ω·cm)
- Thermal — Max. continuous conductor temperature 90 °C; max. short-circuit conductor temperature (≤ 5 s) 250 °C; ambient service range −20 to +45 °C; minimum installation temperature 0 °C (preheat below 0 °C) .
- Flame retardance — "ZR" per GB/T 19666; when no A/B class is stated the default is class C (ZC): single-cable vertical flame-spread test per GB/T 18380.12; bunched test per GB/T 18380.35 (non-metallic volume ≥ 1.5 L/m, 20 min flame, char extent ≤ 2.5 m)
- Mechanical / dimensional — Approx. overall diameter 9.0–9.3 mm; approx. weight ≈ 201 kg/km (manufacturer range 195–220 kg/km); minimum bending radius (single-core) 20 × OD
- Ampacity (reference) — ≈ 115 A in air at 30 °C (single core) and ≈ 100–115 A direct-buried; final ratings need derating factors for ambient, grouping and laying method (GB/T 16895 / IEC 60364)

6. Usage Precautions
- Temperature limits — Never exceed 90 °C continuous or 250 °C short-circuit (≤ 5 s); derate ampacity for ambient temperature, bunching and installation method.
- Installation — Lay only at ambient ≥ 0 °C (preheat the cable if colder); keep the minimum bending radius of 20 × OD (single-core); avoid kinking, sharp edges and over-bending.
- Mechanical protection — Control pulling tension and side-wall pressure; for direct burial where mechanical damage, rodents or stones are a risk, use an armored type (e.g., YJV22) or protective ducting.
- Environment — Protect the PVC sheath from prolonged direct sunlight (UV degradation), strong solvents, oils and high ambient heat; for long-term outdoor exposure provide shading or use a UV-stable specification.
- Fire safety — ZR is a halogen-containing flame-retardant cable; smoke and corrosive gases are produced when burning. Where low smoke and zero halogen are mandatory (tunnels, occupied enclosed spaces), select WDZ-YJY (LSZH) instead.
- Termination & moisture — Fit terminations per manufacturer instructions and seal cable ends to prevent moisture ingress; after installation carry out the DC withstand test specified by the project (typically 4U0 / 15 min).
- Storage — Store drums upright in dry, ventilated areas, off the ground, protected from sunlight and heat sources.
7. Application Scope
- AC 50 Hz power distribution at rated voltage 0.6/1 kV (max system voltage Um = 1.2 kV).
- Buildings and residential/commercial complexes, industrial plants and workshops, municipal and infrastructure projects, power distribution rooms and substation LV circuits.
- Installation in conduits, cable trays, ducts, cable trenches, tunnels and supported/suspended aerial runs.
- Applications with flame-retardance requirements per local fire codes (indoor and semi-outdoor power circuits).
Note: figures marked "typical / approx." are compiled from manufacturer datasheets and standards cited above; the binding values are those of the factory test certificate and the project specification.
