High Viscosity HPAM PHPA Polyacrylamide for Enhanced Oil Recovery Polymer Flooding
Polymer for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Polymer Flooding
Product Overview
High Viscosity HPAM (Hydrolyzed Polyacrylamide), also referred to as PHPA polymer, is a water-soluble polymer specifically developed for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) polymer flooding applications.
The BLUFLOC® HPAM PHPA Series from Bluwat Chemicals is engineered to increase injection water viscosity, improve mobility control, and enhance oil displacement efficiency in mature oilfields.
By modifying the flow characteristics of injected water, HPAM polymer flooding significantly improves sweep efficiency and increases ultimate oil recovery.
How HPAM Works in Polymer Flooding
In conventional water flooding, injected water often channels through high-permeability zones, leaving significant oil trapped in low-permeability areas.
High viscosity HPAM polymer solves this by:
-
Increasing injected water viscosity
-
Reducing mobility ratio between water and crude oil
-
Improving volumetric sweep efficiency
-
Enhancing displacement front stability
-
Minimizing water breakthrough
This results in more uniform reservoir displacement and improved oil production.
Key Performance Benefits
High Viscosity Performance
High molecular weight HPAM provides strong thickening efficiency even at relatively low concentrations.
Improved Mobility Control
Balances the mobility ratio between injected fluid and crude oil, reducing fingering effects.
Enhanced Sweep Efficiency
Improves areal and vertical sweep of the reservoir, accessing previously bypassed oil.
Good Salt Tolerance
Suitable for use in formation waters with moderate salinity.
Stable Rheology Under Reservoir Conditions
Maintains viscosity performance under shear during injection and reservoir flow.
Typical Applications
-
Onshore oilfield polymer flooding projects
-
Mature oilfield tertiary recovery
-
Heavy oil reservoirs
-
Medium-permeability sandstone formations
-
