The film is a circular membrane like elastic sensing element. When the two sides of the diaphragm are affected by different pressures (or forces), the diaphragm moves towards the side with low pressure, resulting in a displacement that has a certain relationship with the pressure difference. There are three types of diaphragm: flat diaphragm, vertical chain diaphragm and corrugated diaphragm.
The flat diaphragm can be divided into various forms according to whether the periphery is fixed or not, whether the hole is opened or not, and the stress distribution in the diaphragm area, among which the flat diaphragm is usually composed of circular plates with constant cross-section fixed around. The vertical chain diaphragm consists of a circular plate with a groove near the edge. Its elastic strain mainly occurs at the edge of the circular groove. This kind of diaphragm is often used to compress the strain tube or column to achieve the purpose of pressure measurement.
The hard part of the vertical chain diaphragm is close to translation when it moves under pressure, so it is better to be used in capacitive sensor or piezoelectric sensor. The corrugated diaphragm has ring-shaped concentric ripples. In order to increase the displacement of the diaphragm, two diaphragms can be welded together to form a capsule or several bellows can be connected in series to form a capsule group.
