1. Product Description
Self-Drilling Screws, also known as Tek screws, eliminate the need for a pre-drilled hole.Similar to a sheet metal screw, but it has a drill-shaped point to cut through the substrate to eliminate the need for drilling a pilot hole. Designed for use in soft steel or other metals. The points are numbered from 1 through 5, the larger the number, the thicker metal it can go through without a pilot hole. A 5-point can drill a 0.5 in (12.7 mm) of steel, for example.he length of the drill point determines the material thickness which the screw can reliably penetrate.When selecting a self-drilling screw design, it is important to consider the material thickness and type of materials to be joined.

Self-drilling screws have hardened drill points that will drill and thread in structural steel, mild steel, aluminum and wood.
