Product Description
Heavy bolts have a head it is larger than a standard (finish) hex head. Standard heavy hex bolts are made by middle carbon steel. The large head offers a greater bearing surface that distributes the clamping load over a greater area.
This Specification covers two types of quenched and tempered steel heavy hex structural bolts having a minimum tensile strength of 120ksi for size 1.0in and less and 105 ksi for size over 1.0 to 1-1/2 in inclusive.
The bolts are intended for use in structural connections. these connections are covered under the requirements of the specification for structural joints using ASTM A32 OR A490 Bolts,approved by the research Council on Structural connections. Endorsed by the Amercican Institute of steel Construction and by the industrial Fasteners Institure.
