The Smoke Alarm is operated by a 9V block battery. With the photoelectric technology, it is more sensitive than Ionization technology to detecting large particles, which may be produced in greater amounts by smoldering fires for hours before bursting into flames. Photoelectric sensor do not contain the radioactive material which is harmless to the environment.
