Product Description
Steam distribution headers are fabricated from carbon steel or alloy steel seamless tubes. We offer customized or tailor-made solutions. After fabrication, headers undergo stress relief treatment to eliminate internal stresses. These large pipe headers transfer water from downcomers to risers through combustion zones where water is partially heated to steam by fuel combustion.
Operation
When bringing a boiler online with other boilers on a header system, specific precautions are necessary to prevent water hammer and excessive temperature gradients in piping. Proper drainage and warming of piping eliminates water hammer risk. Strategic use of bypass valves around main header valves prevents steep temperature gradients. Header drains should be operational during startup. The steam line should reach proper temperature using bypass and drain valves before fully opening the header valve.
