Introduction

Hydrocyclone is also called cyclone separator. Hydrocyclones include hydrocyclone desander(10 in. cone) and hydrocyclone desilter(4 in. cone), which used to separate sand and silt from the drilling fluid. A hydrocyclone has two exits on the axis: the smaller on the bottom (underflow or reject) and larger at the top (overflow or accept). The underflow is generally the denser or thicker fraction, while the overflow is the lighter or more fluid fraction.

Drilling Desilter is the third important solids control equipment in drilling mud cleaning system. It improves the performance of drilling slurry, and can work together with desander cleaner. Commonly used cyclone is ”4 or 5”, which separates size of 15-47μm solids particles out from drilling fluids. Mud desilter is also called Hydrocyclone Desilter on the basis of clients’ handling ability. At present TRCN series desilter is widely applied to coal bed methane drilling, oil & gas drilling, bored piling, tunnel, horizontal directional drilling and other trenchless project.
