API 8A/8C SJ Single Joint Elevator for Well Drilling
Product Profile
Elevators, as developed for the drilling industry, are a hinged device with handles that are used to wrap around the tool joint of drill pipe, casing (for collars) to facilitate the lifting or lowering of them singly or of the drill string as a whole.
API 8A/8C Single Joint elevators model with SJ and SP are light weight elevator intended to lift single joints (segments) of pipe for assembly into the drill string. The lifting weight limit varies from 5 to 8 tons depending on the size. They are manufactured and certified under API 8C.
