EN 1.4002, DIN X6CrAl13, AISI 405 Cold Rolled Stainless Steel Strip Coil
A nonhardenable stainless steel that has been used in the as-welded condition.
It has been used for welded applications that require finish machining.
Corrosion resistance is similar to that of Type 410.
The alloy possesses acceptable resistance to sulfide stress cracking at Rockwell C 22 maximum
hardness per NACE MR-01-75.
Typical applications
1.4002 is principally used in process equipment for the oil industry (e.g. crackers) and in water turbines.
The addition of aluminum reduces the tendency towards hardening in the heataffected zone and thereby lowers
susceptibility to cracking.
