JIS SUS420J1 is a martensitic with 13% Chromium, corrosion resistant high temperature stainless steel.
It’s best corrosive resistance is when hardened and surface is ground or polished.
It has good ductility in the annealed condition but can be hardened up to 500HB.
The difference between Type 420J1 and 420J2 is in the content of carbon.
Increased carbon leads to the improved wear resistance and hardenability.
420J1 stainless suited for parts requiring wear resistance, major applications like
turbine blades, parts for elevated temperature use, consumer goods e.g. knives, scissors, blades..
