FV520B, EN 1.4594, DIN X5CrNiMoCuNb14-5, S45000, a Precipitation Hardening Stainless Steel that exhibits
high strength with moderate/good corrosion resistance.
A precipitation hardening stainless steel with excellent anti-galling characteristics.
FV520B offers good corrosion resistance, weldability and is capable of being hardened
by low temperature treatment. It has better resistance to intergranular and pitting corrosion that other
precipitation hardening grades such as 17-4PH stainless. With corrosion resistance comparable to 304
stainless it is often used in industry and marine environments where rusting rate is low.
FV520B stainless grade can have varying heat treatments which can be to give differing degrees of mechanical strength.
This grade exhibits a high impact resistance in the 550 Deg C ‘aged’ condition.
It is used in mechanical components in aerospace and defence, valves and pumps.
