AISI 446 UNS S44600 TP446-1 TP446-2 Stainless Steel Seamless Tubes
The grade 446 stainless steel is a ferritic, non-heat treatable stainless steel that provides good resistance
to high temperature oxidation and corrosion.
DIN 1.4762 - with the highest chromium content- is the most resistant to reducing sulphurous gases.
It is susceptible to the same embrittlement phenomena as 1.4742 whilst σ-phase forms during long exposures
in the range 600°C to 800°C.

Applications
446 stainless steel should be chosen mainly for service at temperatures above 700°C (1290°F) where
the excellent resistance of the material to slag corrosion and sulphidizing gases is particularly advantageous.
- Recuperators in the metallurgical and glass industries
- Thermocouple protection tubes
- Sootblower tubes
- Injection nozzles
- Muffle tubes in continous wire annealing furnaces
