Type 316L stainless steel tubing is used extensively for critical piping systems in industries in which maintaining the cleanliness of high-purity liquids and gases passing through these systems is fundamental to successful product yield.
Stainless steel is used by the dairy, food, and other industries because it can be polished to a smooth, hard, relatively inert surface finish that can be maintained in a sanitary condition without degradation by corrosion.
Associated Tubes sanitary tube is ideal for the dairy food and beverage industries where the highest degree purity and cleanliness is essential. It is certified to the requirements of ASTM A270 and most user specifications.

Maximum roughness measurement of 32 Ra O.D. and 20 Ra I.D.
Packaging
All sanitary tubes are shipped end capped and poly sleeved for exceptional protection.
Mechanical Tests
Our sanitary tubing undergoes a wide variety mechanical and non-destructive testing that meet or exceed ASTM A270/A269/A1016.
Finish and repair:
The surface of the welded stainless steel tube must be clean and free of scale and contaminating iron particles. It can be bright annealed but may be pickled, blasted or can be passivated.
Repair by welding. Permitted on <−20% of the weld seam length of welded stainless steel tube if >−NPS 6 and having a wall thickness >−0.200 in (mm). TIG welding process is used for repairs, with filler metal to a grade as specified in A 312 (not repeated here). Weld repairs must be identified on the pipe and in test certificate.
