Schedule 5S Stainless Steel Pipe , Unannealed Austenitic welded stainless steel pipes
ASTM A778:
This specification covers welded unannealed stainless pipe intended for low to moderate temperatures and corrosion service where heat treatment is not required for corrosion resistance. A778 is considered to be the most applicable specification for “as welded” pipe and differs from it only that a transverse guided bend test and a transverse tension test are required per lot.
A778 welded stainless steel pipe and tubing is commonly used in the Pulp and Paper mills, food processing plants, and other industries where corrosion resistance is essential.
Normally furnished in square cut ends, pipe with beveled ends can be provided. Spot radiography or 100% radiography can be provided on all weld seams. Pipe is pickled and passivated as per ASTM A380 to maintain corrosion resistance and to prevent surface discoloration from free iron oxidation.
