This test wall conforms to the standard of IEC 60884-1 2013 clause 16.2.2 figure15. It is an auxiliarydevice for verifying socket-outlets accessories and their enclosures shall provide a degree of protection against harmful effects due to ingress if water in accordance with their IP classification.
Flush-type and semi flush-type socket-outlets are fixed in a vertical test wall representing the intended use of the accessory using an appropriate box in according with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Where the manufacturer’s instructions specify that the accessory is suitable to be installed on a rough wall the test wall according to figure 15 is used. It is made with bricks having flat smooth surfaces. When the box is mounted in the test wall, it shall fit tight against the wall.
