Manganese sulfate (chemical formula MnSO4, formula 151.00), its hydrate is a reddish trape-shaped crystal, with a relative density of 3.50 and a melting point of 700℃. It is easily soluble in water and insoluble in ethanol. It exists in the form of various hydrates.
Manganese sulfate begins to decompose at 850℃. Due to different degrees of heating, it can give off SO3, SO2 or oxygen, and the residue is manganese dioxide or manganese tetroxide. When heated to 280℃, crystalline hydrate of manganese sulfate can lose its own crystal water and become anhydrous.

Manganese Sulphate is used as a porcelain glaze,as a fertilizer additive and as a catalyst.It is added to soils to promote plant growth,especially of citrus crops.It is a good reducing agent for manufacturing paints,varnish driers. It is used in textile dyes,fungicides,medicines and ceramics.In foods,it is used as a nutrient and dietary supplement.It is also used in ore flotation, as a catalyst in viscose process and in synthetic manganese dioxide.In veterinary medicine,it is used as a nutritional factor and in the prevention of perosis in poultry.
One of the important micronutrient fertilizers, which can be used as base fertilizer, seed dipping, seed dressing, topdressing and leaf spraying, can promote the growth of crops and increase the yield. In animal husbandry and feed industry, as a feed additive, can make livestock and poultry develop well, and has the effect of accelerating fertilizer.
