High Heat Brown Aluminum Oxide for Coated Abrasives

Heat treatments are often applied to Brown Aluminum Oxides. These may be either high heat or low heat; both enhance toughness, high heat more so than low heat. High heat treatment imparts a bluish color to the grain. Low heat is used to improve cleanliness and capillarity. Uses of heat-treated abrasives include grinding wheels, coated abrasives, and specialized industrial applications.

The abrasive grains for coated abrasives from us are not simply processed by crushing, screening and magnetic separation, which are designed carefully, and through strict production process, such as shaping, water washing, air washing, chemical treatment, calcination, coating, recombination and grouping. The quality standard of grains, such as grains shape, toughness, bulk density, grains strength and hydrophilicity, is according to the customers’ requirement and grinding application.

Application:Ordinary wood, furniture and general steel polishing, the further requirement for sand belts and discs.

3. Brown Fused Alumina Applications

Brown fused alumina is widely used as a raw material in many industries:

1. Due to its high toughness, it is recommended for coated abrasives.

2. It is also recommended for high performance cut-off wheels.

3. Calcined BFA is heat treated in a rotary kiln at high temperatures and magnetic treated. These procedures guarantee low iron content and high toughness. It is recommended for high performance grinding wheels.

4. The friable brown fused aluminum oxide presents an excellent cost/benefit relation, being recommended for wood and drywall coated abrasives.

5. The semi-friable brown fused alumina has heat treatment giving better grain cutting performance to increased toughness and constant replacement of edges of the grains can be used in extreme applications. This material has excellent properties for applications in sensitive steels.
