For portable operation, the system is powered by an internal lithium-polymer battery. Follow these guidelines to protect your battery and extend its life.

 

 

WARNING

• Attempting to open or burn batteries can cause serious injury. Do not knock, puncture, drop or dispose of batteries.

• Do not immerse the batteries in liquid or short-circuit the battery contacts with liquids or metal objects.

• Keep batteries clean and dry.

• Keep batteries out of the reach of children.

• If the battery is cracked, punctured, or otherwise damaged, place it in a strong, resealable plastic bag and dispose of it as a hazardous material in accordance with local, state, or federal laws.

• If the battery leaks or emits a strong odor, remove it from the system and keep it away from an ignition source. Avoid contact with liquid. If the liquid gets on your skin, wash the affected area with plenty of water and seek medical attention.

• If you must ship a damaged battery, place the battery in a strong, resealable plastic bag and ship it overland as a Class 9 hazardous material. Do not ship damaged batteries by air.

 

Caution

 

• Do not operate the system in ambient temperatures below 10°C (50°F) or above 40°C (104°F).

 

• Use only batteries supplied by PHiliphh in the system.

• Charge the battery in the system for one hour before first use.

• Do not store or charge batteries in direct sunlight or in ambient temperatures below -30°C (-22°F) or above 70°C (158°F).

• Charge batteries immediately after use. Storing dead batteries will destroy their capacity. For storage, batteries should be charged to at least 40% of their capacity.

• Remove the batteries from the system if it will not be used for two weeks. • When shipping systems, remove batteries and protect them from damage during shipping.

• Batteries are sealed and safe for normal use as long as the instructions for use are followed and their packaging is not tampered with.

• When storing for more than six months, charge the batteries to 40% to 60%

 

• Batteries can only be charged in the system.

• Batteries can be safely cleaned with isopropyl alcohol (70% solution in water), mild soap and water, or Sporicidin disinfectant solution.

 

 

 

Battery installation

 

Use the following procedure to install or remove the system battery.

 

1. Turn off the system and wait for the shutdown to complete.

2. Close the system cover and turn the system upside down.

3. Press the latch on the battery cover, lift the cover and remove it from the system.

4. Do one of the following:

To remove the battery, hold the battery handle and first lift the side with the battery connector and pull the battery out of the compartment.

 

To install the battery, lower the side of the battery against the connector into the compartment and push the connector side into the compartment.

 

5. Replace the cover and make sure it snaps into place
