Warning

Do not expose the battery to chemicals that can dissolve ABS, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, nickel, mylar or steel.

Do not short-circuit, cut, destroy, incinerate or charge the battery (Li/MnO2 battery).

Warning

The device initializes a new battery when it is inserted and assigned to the device. It must not be inserted into another device.

Replace the battery if the device indicates a problem with the battery. Do not use defective batteries.

Turn off the device before removing the battery.

Insert the battery as shown in the following figure:

– Push the battery firmly into the holder until it clicks into place.

– After inserting the battery, FRED easy® performs a self-test to check the status of the device and the battery.

– After the self-test, you can configure the date, time and IP settings for FRED easy Ethernet/Online. If this test shows no problems, the green light will flash and the information will be displayed.

► Battery Monitoring

• FRED easy® checks the capacity of rechargeable NiCad or Lithium batteries and warns the user if the battery is "low" or "dead".

• The Lithium battery ensures that the device will remain fully functional (and self-test) for several years (at temperatures between 15°C and 25°C) as long as the device is not used.

• Battery life depends on device usage and environmental conditions.

Regardless of remaining capacity, the battery must be replaced after the expiration date (shown on the packaging).

Old batteries must be recycled according to local regulations.
