Measurement principle

CO2, N2O, and agent measurement

 

TPX is a lateral flow gas analyzer that measures in real time the concentrations of CO2, N2O and anesthetics (halothane, enflurane, isoflurane, desflurane and sevoflurane).

 

Automatically identify an anesthetic or a mixture of two anesthetics and measure the concentration of the identified drug. The TPX also detects a combination of more than two agents and issues an alarm.

TPX is a non-dispersive infrared analyzer that measures the absorbance of a gas sample at seven selected infrared wavelengths using narrowband optical filters.

Infrared radiation detectors are thermopiles.

CO2 and N2O concentrations were calculated from absorbance measurements at 3-5 m.

Identify the anesthetic and calculate the concentration by measuring the absorbance at five wavelengths in the 8-9 µm band and solving the concentration from a set of five equations.

 

 

 

O2 measurement

Differential cells for measuring oxygen use the paramagnetic principle in the configuration of the pneumatic bridge. The signal received by the differential pressure sensor is generated in a measuring cell with a strong magnetic field, which is turned on and off at a frequency of 165 Hz. The output signal is a direct voltage proportional to the difference in O2 concentration between the two gases to be measured

 

 

Patient spirometry

In mechanical ventilation, the ventilator delivers the appropriate tidal volume (VT), respiratory rate (RR), and inspiratory/expiratory time ratio (I:E) to the patient through the ventilator according to the ventilator settings.

Patient spirometers monitor patient ventilation. The following parameters are displayed.

- Expiratory and Inspiratory Flow (VT) (ml)

- expiratory and inspiratory volume per minute (MV) in l/min

- spontaneous expiratory volume per minute (l/min)

- Intake/Expiration Ratio (I:E)

 

 

Gas exchange measurement

The gas exchange measurement uses a D-lite flow sensor and a gas sampler.

The basic data needed to obtain O2 consumption and CO2 production are volume and concentration.

The concentrations were corrected for delays and deformations when transporting gas samples from the side-flow gas measurement sensor.

Subtract the exhaled volume from the inhaled volume to obtain the O2 consumption in ml / min.

To get the amount of carbon dioxide produced in milliliters per minute, subtract the amount inhaled from the amount exhaled.
