Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Technical Overview
Our high-performance DPF filters are engineered for semi-trucks and diesel engines including 1.6 TDI, 1.9 TDI, and 1.5 DCI models. These filters effectively reduce particulate matter (PM) and particle number (PN) emissions through advanced filtration technology.
Filtration Mechanisms
- Diffusion Mechanism: Particles converge due to concentration gradients, leading to diffusion capture
- Interception Mechanism: Particles larger than filter micropores are captured at the filtering surface
- Inertial Collision Mechanism: Particles impact filter surfaces due to mass differences during exhaust flow
- Gravity Deposition: Minor particle trapping near filter surfaces under gravity influence
The exhaust flow resistance increases proportionally with particle layer thickness on the filter surface. Larger filtration areas per unit volume slow this growth, making higher honeycomb density and thinner channel walls beneficial for performance.
