Polyacrylamide, the English name is Poly(acrylamide), the CAS number is 9003-05-8, and the molecular formula is (C3H5NO)n. Polyacrylamide is a linear organic high molecular polymer, and also a high molecular water. The treatment of flocculant products can specifically adsorb suspended particles in water, play a role in connecting and bridging between particles, making fine particles form larger flocs and speeding up the settling speed. This process is called flocculation. Due to its good flocculation effect, PAM is widely used in sewage treatment as a flocculant in water treatment.

Precautions for polyacrylamide in sludge dewatering:
1. Sludge is an inevitable product in sewage treatment. First of all, we must understand the source, nature, composition and solid content of sludge. According to the different main components contained in sludge, sludge can be divided into organic sludge and inorganic sludge. Generally speaking, cationic polyacrylamide is used to treat organic sludge, and anionic polyacrylamide is used to treat inorganic sludge. Cationic polyacrylamide should not be used when the alkalinity is strong, and anionic polyacrylamide should not be used when the acidity is strong. When the solid content of the mud is higher, the amount of polyacrylamide is usually larger.
2. Ion selection of polyacrylamide: According to the sludge that needs to be dehydrated, flocculants of different ionicity are screened through small experiments, and the appropriate polyacrylamide is selected to achieve the effect of flocculant, just add flocculant. The amount of medicine is small and the cost is saved.
