Polyacrylamide (also called PAM) is a kind of organic polymer flocculant. It has a linear-chain structure. PAM is highly water-absorbent, forming a soft gel when hydrated. In 2008, an estimated 750,000,000 kg were produced, mainly for water treatment and the paper and mineral industries.

Application Areas
1. Water treatment. High performance, adapt to a variety of working conditions, small dosage, less sludge produced, and easy post-treatment.
2. Papermaking. Save raw materials, improve wet and dry strength, and increase pulp stability. It is also used in the papermaking wastewater treatment industry.
3. Petroleum exploration. Polyacrylamide is widely used in petroleum exploration, profile control, plugging agents, drilling fluids, fracturing fluid additives, etc.
4. Textiles. As a sizing agent for textile coatings, it can reduce the short head and shedding of the loom, and enhance the antistatic performance of textiles.
