Application

What advantages does Chlorine Dioxide have over Chlorine?

- Chlorine Dioxide is a more powerful oxidant. It is therefore at least 2.6 times more powerful per ppm.

- Chlorine Dioxide acts only by oxidation. Chlorine will combine to produce harmful Chlorinated by-products, e.g. Chlorinated phenols and THM's. Many of these by-products are recognised carcinogens.

- Chlorine Dioxide does not hydrolyse to form an acid, and is therefore less corrosive in situ.

- The effectiveness of Chlorine is very pH dependent. Chlorine Dioxide is effective at all pH's below 12.

- Chlorine Dioxide has been found to be effective against complex organisms, e.g. cysts and protozoa. Chlorine is not.

- Chlorine Dioxide removes Biofilm. Chlorine does not.
