LiF Infrared Optics Overview
Lithium Fluoride (LiF) crystal optics provide exceptional transmission in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) region, making them ideal for windows, prisms, and lenses operating across both visible and infrared spectral ranges from 0.104 μm to 7 μm.
Material Characteristics
LiF crystal offers excellent optical performance but requires careful handling due to sensitivity to thermal shock and potential moisture attack at temperatures above 400°C. The material can be cleaved along (100) and (110) planes and softens at 600°C, allowing bending into radius plates. High-quality LiF is typically grown using modified Bridgman method for optimal structural integrity.
