Dicumyl peroxide is a strong free radical source ; used as a polymerization initiator, catalyst and vulcanizing agent. The half-life temperatures are 61 C (for 10 hours), 80 C (1 for 1 hour) and 120 C (for 1 minute).

Application
Dicumyl peroxide (DCP) is used:
- in vulcanization of rubber
- as a crosslinking agent in the synthesis of polylactic acid composite fibers
- in the preparation of polyethylene composites
- in the synthesis of polyamide 112/ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer blends.
