Ferro Manganese Description
Medium carbon ferromanganese (MC FeMn) refers to alloys mainly composed of manganese and iron, which are most frequently used deoxidizers and alloying materials in steel production. They are divided into low-carbon ferromanganese (carbon content below 0.5%) and medium-carbon ferromanganese (carbon content between 1.0%-2.0%). Ferromanganese is widely used in a variety of alloy steel including constructional steel, tool steel, stainless & heat resisting steel, wear-resistant steel.
Ferro Manganese alloy is an alloy with high percentage of manganese, which is made by heating a mixture of oxides, MnO2 and Fe2O3 with high carbon content in blast furnace or an electric arc furnace-type system. The oxides go through carbothermal reduction in the furnaces that result in producing Ferro Manganese. In steelmaking, it is used as a deoxidizer and alloy additive. It is the most used ferroalloy.
Electric furnace high carbon ferromanganese is mainly used as deoxidizer, desulfurizer and alloy additive in steelmaking. In addition, with the progress of medium and low carbon ferromanganese production technology, high carbon ferromanganese can also be used in the production of medium and low carbon ferromanganese.
