Product Description
WLCo 190 is a highly wear-resistant alloy primarily used for surfacing the bearing journal of tricone rotary drill bits used in the oil and gas industry. Tricone drill bits are designed to operate at high temperatures and in extremely abrasive downhole conditions. Due to the high proportion of carbides that provide wear resistance, care must be taken to minimize the cooling stress generated during the surfacing process and to avoid conditions of use that involve severe mechanical or thermal shock.
WLCo-190 is not designed primarily as a corrosion resistant alloy, although it may be expected to have reasonable corrosion resistance to brackish water and mildly oxidizing environments. The high carbide content reduces its corrosion resistance relative to other CoCrW alloys, such as WLCo-6.
