A lumbar interbody fusion cage, also known as a lumbar cage or interbody cage, is a medical device used in lumbar spine surgery to promote fusion between adjacent vertebrae. It is commonly used to treat conditions such as degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, spinal instability, and disc herniation in the lumbar region.

The lumbar interbody fusion cage is typically made of biocompatible materials such as titanium, polyetheretherketone (PEEK), or a combination of materials. It is designed to be inserted into the intervertebral space between two lumbar vertebrae, replacing the damaged or degenerated disc.

The lumbar cage serves several purposes:
