1.Do lithium iron phosphate batteries get hot?
Studies have shown that under the condition of 1C rate overcharge, the starting temperature of thermal runaway of LiFePO4/C battery is about 116°C~131°C, and the temperature rise rate of thermal runaway is about 3.01°C/s - 5.82°C/s.

 

2.Are lithium iron phosphate batteries a fire hazard?
They will not explode or catch fire in the event of a hazardous event such as a collision or short circuit, greatly reducing the possibility of injury. If you are choosing a lithium battery and anticipate use in hazardous or unstable environments, lithium iron phosphate may be the best choice for you.

 

3.What can destroy a lithium battery?
Broken or cracked casings allow moisture and oxygen to enter the battery and oxidize the lithium components, causing a thermal reaction. This could result in fire or explosion. Thermal reactions can also be caused by overheating, overcharging, and shock from dropping or crushing.

 

4.How far can I discharge LiFePO4?
LiFePO4 batteries can be continuously discharged to 100% DOD with no long-term effects. However, we recommend that you only discharge to 80% to preserve battery life.
