Calcium bromide, chemical formula CaBr2. Chemical formula CaBr2. Molecular weight 199.90. Colorless orthorhombic crystals. Easily deliquescent. Melting point 730℃ (with slight decomposition), boiling point 806～812℃, relative density 3.35325. Its hexahydrate is colorless hexagonal crystals, melting point 38.2℃, boiling point 149℃, relative density 2.295. Soluble in water, ethanol , slightly soluble in liquid ammonia. Its aqueous solution is neutral or slightly alkaline. It can be made by the reaction of hydrobromic acid with calcium oxide, lime milk or calcium carbonate, or by passing ammonia into lime milk and then adding bromine. It should be sealed and stored away from light.
