Introduction:

White amorphous powder. Odorless and tasteless. Insoluble in water, insoluble in alcohol, soluble in acid or ammonium salt solutions.

Uses:

1. Light magnesium oxide is used in ceramics, enamels, refractory crucibles, and firebricks. It is also used as a polishing agent, adhesive, paint, papermaking filler, and promoter and activator for neoprene. It is used pharmaceutically as an antacid and laxative, and is used to treat gastric acid and duodenal ulcers. It is also used in industries such as glass dyes, phenolic resins, and plastics.
2. Dead-burned magnesium oxide, also known as magnesia, is available in granular and brick forms and is widely used as a refractory material in steelmaking furnaces, cement kilns, and glass furnaces.
3. Alkaline granular refractories are primarily used in the metal refining industry. Blocks are used as furnace chambers, or granules are used as repair materials. They are applied to furnace walls by spraying or coating to enhance the furnace's refractory capacity.
4. Magnesium oxide generates a positive charge in water, while most suspended solids are negatively charged, acting as an absorbent, thus improving filtration efficiency.
