Applications

In agriculture, o-chlorobenzaldehyde, also known as 2-chlorobenzaldehyde, is used to control mites on dry crops and fruit trees. It is a raw material for the synthesis of the acaricide clofentezine and can also be used to synthesize another new acaricide, flutenzine.
It is used for the determination of sorbitol and in the preparation of triphenylmethane.
It is a zinc plating brightener and is primarily used as a raw material in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals such as o-chlorobenzylamine, o-chlorobenzyl chloride, and clofentezine sodium.
