Introduction:
Sodium isooctanoate exists as a solid at room temperature, with a density of approximately 1.089–1.098 g/ml and a melting point exceeding 300°C. It is produced by reacting octanol with solid caustic soda. For storage, keep sealed in a cool, dry place and avoid contact with oxidizing agents.
Uses:
Primarily used in the synthesis of isooctanoic acid and its calcium and magnesium salts. Also serves as a salt-forming agent in pharmaceuticals, a catalyst for drying agents in paints, a stabilizer for polymers, a crosslinking agent, a thickening agent for oils, and an additive for fuel oil energy conservation.
