Introduction:
Colorless crystals. Melting point: 115–116°C; boiling point: 246°C. At 20°C, 1 g is soluble in 3 L of water; soluble in 1 part of 95% ethanol; soluble in benzene, terpenes, non-volatile oils, and sodium hydroxide solution. Possesses a faint phenolic odor and is volatile with water vapor. Stable in hot water.
Uses:
Preservatives and biocides. Used in emulsions, cosmetics, inks, plywood, and plastics as a mold inhibitor for plastics; particularly suitable for rigid and semi-rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sheets, artificial leather, and similar materials. It offers good heat and weather resistance, low water solubility, and strong persistence in resins; the typical usage rate is 2%.
