Introduction:
A pale yellow liquid with a rich, fresh fruity and green leaf-like aroma. It exists in two isomeric forms: cis and trans. Boiling point ranges from 150 to 152°C, or 47°C (at 2266 Pa), with a flash point of 37.8°C. Soluble in ethanol, propylene glycol, and most non-volatile oils; very slightly soluble in water. The natural compound is found in the oils of tea leaves, mulberry leaves, radish leaves, as well as in cucumber, apple, peach, orange peel, strawberry, passion fruit, papaya, and other sources.
