It exists in three isomeric forms—d-, l-, and dl-—and appears as a colorless to pale yellow liquid. It is sparingly soluble in water and glycerol, but soluble in ethanol and propylene glycol.
Uses:
Production of intermediates for lubricants, plasticizers, perfumes, and fragrance esters.
