CuNi Alloy CuNi4/NC007/C72150/2.0842 Copper-Based Heating Resistance Alloy Wire for Energy Conversion in Industrial and Residential Applications
CuNi4 is a copper-nickel alloy composed of approximately 96% copper and 4% nickel, often with small amounts of iron and manganese to enhance its mechanical and corrosion resistance properties. Known for its excellent resistance to corrosion, particularly in marine and industrial environments, CuNi4 is widely used in applications where components are exposed to seawater or aggressive conditions.
CuNi4 is valued for its versatility, durability, and performance in harsh environments, making it a preferred choice in marine and industrial applications.

Main physical properties:
Some key features of CuNi-4 include:
- Corrosion Resistance: CuNi4 alloy exhibits good resistance to corrosion, especially in marine environments and freshwater systems. This is due to the presence of nickel, which enhances the alloy's ability to form a protective oxide layer that resists further corrosion
- High Strength: The alloy has increased tensile strength compared to pure copper, which improves with the addition of nickel. This makes CuNi4 suitable for applications where high strength is required
- Thermal and Electrical Conductivity: While the electrical and thermal conductivity of CuNi4 are lower than that of pure copper due to the presence of nickel, it still offers good conductivity properties, which are beneficial for applications involving heat exchangers and electrical components
- Manganese Addition: Manganese is added to CuNi4 for deoxidation purposes. It improves casting characteristics, increases strength, and raises the softening temperature, which is beneficial for hot working and forming processes
- Iron Content: Iron, when present in the alloy, increases corrosion resistance, particularly in fast-flowing seawater. It also contributes to age-hardening characteristics, allowing for further strengthening of the alloy through heat treatment
- Age-Hardenable: CuNi4 alloy can be age-hardened, which means its strength can be increased through a heat treatment process. This is particularly useful for applications requiring high strength and resistance to stress corrosion cracking
- Processing Characteristics: The alloy can be processed through various methods including hot and cold working and casting, making it suitable for a wide range of manufacturing processes
- Aesthetic Appeal: CuNi4 alloy has an attractive light color, especially when it contains more than 15% nickel, which can be a desirable aesthetic feature in certain applications
- Mechanical Properties: The alloy possesses superior mechanical properties over a wide range of temperatures, making it suitable for both low and elevated temperature applications
- Wear Resistance: CuNi4 alloy also exhibits good wear resistance, which is beneficial for components that are subject to friction and abrasion
Applications:
- Marine Engineering: Tubes, pipes, valves, and fittings for seawater systems.
- Heat Exchangers and Condensers: Used in power plants, desalination, and chemical processing.
- Shipbuilding: Components requiring corrosion resistance and durability.
- Electrical Applications: Electrical connectors, resistive elements, and wiring.
- Coinage: Sometimes used in coins for its aesthetic and durable properties.
- Architectural Uses: Coastal cladding and roofing for corrosion resistance
